The India Systems Development Lab (ISDL), part of the worldwide IBM Infrastructure division, was established in 1996 and operates from Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad. ISDL works across the entire IBM Systems stack—processors (Power and IBM Z), firmware, operating systems, storage and cloud software, security engineering, and system testing—contributing to over 400 patents to date. The lab also pioneers new development methodologies like Agile, Design Thinking, and DevOps.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at IBM ISDL, you will engage in all phases of product development (design, coding, testing, support) across Operating Systems, Firmware, Systems Software, Storage Software, and Cloud Software.
- Design, develop, validate, and support IBM Systems products.
- Analyze requirements, create technical solutions, and test across product life cycles.
- Collaborate with global development teams to deliver world-class infrastructure software.
- Contribute to Agile and DevOps-driven environments to ensure faster, higher-quality delivery.
- Gain exposure to hybrid cloud and AI workloads with enterprise-level impact.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Electronics, IT, or related fields)
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Systems and Cloud Software Engineer:
- Knowledge of Operating Systems, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Container technologies, Virtualization, REST APIs, DevOps, and Microservices.
- Strong programming in C, C++, Go, Python, Ansible, Shell scripting.
- Familiarity with GitHub and open-source tools.
AI Software Engineer:
- Understanding of AI/ML/DL concepts, Jupyter Notebooks, Kubernetes, and Linux.
- Programming experience in C, C++, R, Python, Go Lang.
- Knowledge of Data Science, ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost), DL frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, CockroachDB) and NLP techniques.
- Understanding of CPU architectures and open-source data tools.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Experience with Java, Python, GoLang, ReactJS, cloud computing (Red Hat OpenShift, Docker), microservices.
- Basic understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS), file systems, RAID, and backup/recovery tools.
- Familiarity with cloud storage platforms (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage).
- Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
