We are seeking a passionate and skilled Engineer, Software Engineering to join our dynamic Data Engineering team within the Market Intelligence division. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining enterprise-grade data systems and analytics solutions that power critical business decisions across global markets. This role combines software craftsmanship with data-driven problem-solving, giving you the opportunity to shape next-generation products that enable clients to access insights faster and more effectively. You’ll work with talented engineers and analysts to design scalable systems that enhance S&P Global’s analytics capabilities and cloud-based platforms.

⚙️ Roles & Responsibilities

1. Software and System Development

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data systems and backend software applications. Implement efficient, secure, and scalable code aligned with modern software engineering principles.

2. Database and API Development

Build and optimize queries, APIs, and microservices using Java, SQL, and Python. Support database design, data modeling, and data-driven application development to support analytics workflows.

3. Design and Documentation

Participate in design sessions to define product features, data models, and service architecture. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing across teams.

4. Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with technical and business stakeholders across departments to understand key metrics and performance indicators. Translate complex data into actionable insights and clear, visual reports.

5. Operational Support

Support and maintain production environments. Troubleshoot performance issues, conduct code reviews, and ensure high availability and reliability of critical systems.

6. Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the evolution of our cloud-based infrastructure and metadata-driven systems. Drive automation, improve processes, and recommend innovative approaches to enhance system performance and scalability.

🎓 Education and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 3–6 years of professional experience in application or backend software development.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Scala, or SQL—with strong programming and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Knowledge of cloud databases such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Test-Driven Development.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with attention to detail.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with microservices, containerized environments, and cloud platforms (especially AWS).
• Familiarity with Big Data tools and analytics frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar systems.
• Strong curiosity and initiative to explore emerging technologies.
